[ Here's the thing - the Deerington locals are a gossipy bunch, and sometimes Connor can't help but overhear. He'd heard recently about a surly man who'd been taking books from the library — gasp — without permission. Connor had then used his Fancy Android Powers (tm) to do a quick check on what books are missing from the shelves, cross-referenced with what books are checked out, and voila: he's got a list of 15 titles that aren't accounted for.

He's been on the lookout for this mysterious book thief ever since.

Now, the brief glimpse of Logan he'd caught on the network hadn't been enough to rouse suspicion, nor had Logan's weird reaction to discovering Connor is the librarian, but Connor has no doubt at all that this is the culprit when Logan arrives to get his library card.

Connor's very cool about it though. You can't be a terrifying interrogation bot if you, ya know, exhibit any tells when you know you've got someone right where you want them.

Instead, he smiles politely. The only indication that he's not, like, just a really awkward human is the blue LED ring in his temple. ]

Hello. May I help you?

[After all is said and done, a certain cat-like person just has no more energy to use, not even fumes. He's just been running about doing as much as he could despite being ill and utterly sore, and without someone to force him to rest, X'rhun has run himself ragged.

Which is why he's currently sacked out on a pew in the church, leaning against the side of it, looking either unconscious or deeply asleep that he doesn't care about whatever traffic the church is getting.

Is it sacrilege to sleep in a church?]

[Kurama speaks fluent flower, though the reasons he knows the language are far more sinister than people understand.

Still, he prepares the bouquet with care, without the intent to harm. White tulips with spots of fuschia touching their delicate petals make the bulk of the bouquet. Bright, yellow daffodils are placed strategically among the tulips to best bring out the color of each other and six purple hyacinth along the outer edge of the bouquet, tied neatly with a bright red ribbon, and wrapped for protection, with the label of Rosie's, the garden shop.

All three mean 'I'm sorry', the closest Logan will get to an apology for the moment.]

This is Connor, the librarian. I'm contacting you in regards to your unpaid fines. Given the current state of the town in combination with last month's particularly stressful nature, I would like to reduce the amount owed by 50%. With the return of the books, that brings your outstanding total to $75.00.

[As soon as they're back in town, and Clara can hole up in her house and hide from everyone, she decides to get in touch with the person who might be least put off by her predicament.]

Hiya. [Cheerful, with the slightest tremor at the edge.] Just checking in, now that everything's- [Back to normal? Not in the slightest. She trails off, thoughts a good many steps ahead of her words.] There's, uh. Something I sort of want to talk to you about? Let me know when you've got a sec. Thanks!

[ Some time in the early morning, the delivery dogs come by. They're doing Blake the favor of locating Logan and dropping off the package wherever he might be.

There's a brown takeout box wrapped in a cotton cloth and tied with a white ribbon. Inside is a variety - a fruit salad, actually - with everything Blake could muster between Hart Mart and the diner. Someone had told him Howlett likes fruit, it seems, because he didn't guess. There's probably enough for the household, but John's meant it for Logan to overindulge, should he see fit.

Inside is a handwritten note in a messy scrawl:

Something to brighten your day, old man.
Thanks for having my back.

Blake is a random gift-giver, so this is not abnormal, although showing he's prone to sentiment isn't his favorite move. Thankfully, Logan already has a bead on that part of his personality, so he's not too concerned. ]

[There's a box on the doorstep for Logan, the little tag says as much. A box wrapped in bright red foil, a silky silver ribbon tied around it with a bow on top. Inside the box are ten flannel jackets in various colours. On top of the pile is a simple piece of white cardstock paper with elegant cursive words penned in red ink (notice a pattern?), as if written with a quill or a fountain pen.

Who could have sent it? Well, all that red looks a lot like the red a certain someone likes to wear, right? Not to mention the threat.]

[ A jug of maple syrup and some... crab meat? Lobster meat? How strange, where did this come from? It's neatly packed on ice, and it's so delicious...

[ The package in shimmering silver paper is a little crudely wrapped - what's inside is oddly shaped. Someone wasn't able to do a good job here but it's certain that an attempt was made - that's the main thing isn't it?

Hidden within is a small, hand-carved deer - no bigger than the palm of an average human hand. Much like the wrapping paper, the figure is a little on the crude side: there's nothing startlingly expert in the craftsmanship. But someone's clearly taken their time to carve the little deer and tried their best - even the roughest edges have been sanded down a little. Eyes, noses and hooves have been coloured with a black marker.

With the deer, a small, simple note that reads: ]

[ Some time between midnight and dawn on Christmas Day, a gift bag is dropped off, likely by the Delivery Dogs. It's attractively adorned and everything inside is carefully wrapped in matching wrapping papers.

When opened Logan will find a couple gifts: Included is an attractive wool sweater, a cute coffee mug, a small canister of loose black tea, and a half-pound of whole bean coffee.

Attached is a note written in a bit of a messy scrawl:

Thanks for all you did this year, and all you taught me.
It's been nice getting to know you.

He's taken great care to make sure the bag is secured from water soaking into the bottom, and he uses the Delivery Dogs in case his recipient happens to be somewhere other than home. Happy Holidays! ]

[Logan has received (one) package! Inside there is some thick candles with a woody scent. There's also a nice warm lap blanket with a flannel print. It has more of a fresh snow scent, which, once he digs in, he'll find an incense tablet.

And folded around the tablet, there's a note:]

_{[She thinks she's been pretty patient so far, all things considered. Once the town went back to its normal-ish freaky self, she'd started helping Logan with repairs to the house without being asked--seeing as how she caused most of the damage.

She hadn't even complained when she'd come downstairs to find him ushering around a strange girl, saying she needed to stay the night. Why their rickety, trashed house would be the preferred destination to sleep in is beyond her, but she knows Logan tries to look out for others. And it's hard as hell getting by in this place sometimes. She understands--and so she says nothing, even if River is a bit... well, odd is a nice word for it.

That had been a few days ago. Henry can be patient, but she's also not above wondering when she's going to get her house back.
