In contrast, Highlanders are tall and muscular, and rather rugged because they prefer harsher lands such as deserts and rough mountain regions. More suited to harsher climes, really. [Like Gyr Abania.]
You yourself would qualify as a Highlander in Eorzea, while many others here would qualify as Midlanders.

[How do they stand that sort of tedium?]
no subject
[ All the life and sound and smells... Logan's been to deserts before, but they aren't to his taste. ]
If I was a Highlander it'd have to be in the mountains.
no subject
[And he gives Logan a placating pat on the shoulder.]
no subject
Thanks. [ He says it like the whole "Highlander liking Midland locations" thing had been bothering him and dips his head to hide his smile. ] Anything special about Hyurs besides that? Or are they more or less like humans?
no subject
What may seem special for you might be entirely typical for Eorzeans, whatever the race may be.
no subject
...right. [ Jesus. ] So what's similar between the Hyur and... uh, I guess me? Is just looks?
no subject
For one, none of them have claws like yours, unless they wear weapons or gauntlets like such. And none of them-- and by extension the rest of the spoken races-- mutate unless prompted by outside forces.

Though others don't have magic at all. I suppose us Eorzeans are a class all on our own, even those who most resemble you people.
no subject
You know, you guys probably are. Eorzea doesn't sound like Earth so far... at least, not the Earth I'm from.
Magic's just innate to you, ain't it?

[And then his expression grows grave.]
A land without aether-- without life energy-- is a land devoid of any sort of life.
no subject
[ He repeats it under his breath all the same, though, curious. ] Aether. Do you feel any of that here?

But I shan't be casting any more Flares, my friend. That's not in my specialty. [And... he thinks if he attempted it out here, without even a black mage crystal to ease the way, he would kill himself.
Again.]

[ Logan shakes his head. ] We're good.
But one of these days you gotta show me what other spells you can do. Maybe we can figure some defence strategies [ a shrug ] in case we gotta fight together again.
no subject
But no, he would rather not cast a spell on Logan.]
I shall need a striking dummy for that, my friend-- my magicks are purely for combat, and I refuse to use them on you despite your ability to heal.
no subject
A striking dummy'll work. It'll be easy.

But I'm only getting in your spells if I really have to. Promise.
[ He even makes a small cross over his heart to mark it.
...and then yawns a bit after, the hand on his chest moving up to cover his mouth. ] Hrrgh. Shit.
no subject
Mm... Are you sure you don't wish to sleep here? The daybed is free, and I have more room upstairs.
no subject
...could you wake me up in an hour and a half? [ One whole sleep cycle. ] I'm gonna end up here two days straight if you don't.
