And those that we saw.
( the first monsters that they'd seen -- a girl, dolls. anything seemed to wish to kill them )
Nightmares are real.

If you believe this place is a dream, then yeah. Nightmares're real. [ He picks up one last thing-- an antibiotic that helps with sepsis. Logan's not good at medicines, but he knows this one intimately. It'd saved lives out on the battlefield.
He gives it to River for safekeeping. ]
Dream logic ain't good for me. You know the moon's been off for two months now? [ He shakes his head. ] Fucks with my instincts more than anything else.
[ And he's an animal who relies heavily on them. ]

( although her delivery is very casual there's a hint to it that says how serious she believes in this. she was raised in nightmares, incredibly literally. there was no reason why she wouldn't believe it.
speaking of instincts, though the moon itself hadn't affected river there was something else here that was playing with her own senses )
But I've noticed something similar. I don't have an explanation yet but something is missing or blocked here.

( river pauses again, ignoring what else may still be around them for the time being, stepping closer to him )
It's like a sense. I usually know exactly where I am -- the location, the time. Like coordinates.

He cocks his head to the side. ]
And you're sayin' this place ain't anywhere?
no subject
( no, really, there was a place called nowhere )
Even at the end of the universe I could feel something, when time and space were collapsing. I think something is stopping me from knowing.
no subject
Well... [ He lifts a hand, scritching lightly at the beard on his jaw. ] It might be the same thing that's fucking with everyone's powers.
This town ain't very kind about letting us know anything, you know.
no subject
( she knew he was more than just human from his claws but what else was there, and who else was there that could do something else? )
no subject
But I heal... or at least, I did it automatically. Now I gotta think about it, and any wounds I get are moved to anyone who might be nearby. I also have a friend who can control gravitational fields, manipulate metal-- and now he can barely do anything. People who can fly can't leave this town, either-- there're other people, other powers, and it's just a whole clusterfuck.

I'm not entirely human. ( it was just something that she was but something she rarely talked about. people assumed she was human based on her appearance and whilst they weren't exactly wrong she didn't feel the need to correct them ) As far as I know that sense is the only thing that's different.
( though things like her telepathy she didn't often use and from what she could tell he was speaking english. she hadn't found any texts to see if that had been affected )

Typically Logan's tone is calm with only the slightest hint of irritation; right now, however, he sounds something close to confident. Proud. ] I ain't human, either. [ Which really just means he feels closer to her than he does actual homo sapiens already. ]
I don't know why this place fucks with things as much as it does. But I hear whoever was responsible for the blood moon and all those beasts might be on this lab on Mt. Rheum. And I figure if we're looking for answers, maybe we could give that place a shot.
...y'know, when it ain't all lookin' like a giant person, because like hell am I going near that.
no subject
Let me know when you go. ( river is good at being calm, very good at being detached from her emotions until something pisses her off (though even then she's calm -- a deadly calm).
though she would have probably ran into looking for that lab even with it looking strange she's going to wait until he goes with her. she's not scared of the danger but river has appreciated his help so far and this seems like a situation where the help is going to be necessary )
Whoever is there will have some answers to give.
( and she might not be nice about it )

But you gotta know there's a point where something-- some force or whatever, I dunno, is gonna start beatin' down on ya. Make you bleed. Make it like your head's splitting in two from some... endless screaming, whatever.
I got my healing. Besides that, I don't really know how to fight it.

( she wouldn't ever thank kovarian for anything but everything that she'd experienced during her upbringing her moulded her into the person she was now -- for better or worse.
sadly river knew that a high pain tolerance likely wouldn't be enough but it didn't deter her. running in fear of things never got you answers and river had learned not to be afraid a very long time ago )
no subject
How much can you take physically? [ Because pain tolerance is more mental than anything-- he knows his own is incredibly, unbearably small; given the hypersensitivity, he feels pain more acutely than he feels anything. All Logan really has going is the fact his body can fix itself up. ]

( gallifreyans were built more durable -- two hearts, resistances to radiation that would kill humans, able to exist in vacuums or low oxygen for periods of time. but that was physically.
mentally... river had suffered, had been forced to live and breathe nightmares as a child. you couldn't break something that had been broken a long time ago and the few weaknesses that river still had weren't in this place )
no subject
no subject
( even if she could regenerate river didn't want to chance it. she may have been wild and sometimes reckless but she wasn't stupid )
I'm not human. ( alien enough that it counts. she doesn't know how human she is other than her parents -- there isn't really anyone else like her around, at least no one that wasn't cloned from her ) It gives me some advantages.
no subject
All right. [ And that's the end of that. They'll talk more about it when it becomes necessary. For now, Logan makes a brief jerking motion with his head towards the door. ] Should probably get out of here. M'startin' to get sick of the scent of all this rot.
[ Which is to say the whole hospital smells disgusting, even if there aren't any monsters in their immediate vicinity. Logan moves to the door of the room, standing by it for a while with his head slightly tilted to listen, and when he deems it safe enough he pushes it open and takes the first step out.
Then he waves River along to follow him. ]
no subject
she follows him out as his gesture, making certain to keep close to him )
We should get your items safe.
no subject
All in all, it's as difficult getting out as it was getting in. Which means it's a very mild difficulty over-all.
He's relieved when they're out, but the scent of rot is replaced with the overwhelming scent of blood. Eugh. Not better at all. ]
