So he stays seated, but he shrugs in response. ]
You were sleeping. Probably better to do that at home.
no subject
He just rubs his hands over his face. He's too tired for this chocoboshite.]
I didn't even realize--
[That he'd fallen asleep.
Or who he's speaking to, still. He's still riding the initial shot of adrenaline and still it clouds his perception.]
no subject
[ He thinks it's been a rough fucking month for everybody. He's not sure when he's last slept for more than an hour at a time, and he doesn't even have the eye problem that everyone else apparently does. ]
Remember that... gentleman thing? Offer still stands.
no subject
... Oh.
[Now X'rhun realizes just who is with him, and he peeks out through his fingers. He knows this man, and he's sure he knows the name too but... he cant seem to recall it. It's on the tip of his tongue, like a dream he had days ago.
Ah, well, he's spent weeks not knowing the man's name, he can survive a few more minutes without that knowledge.]
How gallant of you! [X'rhun reaches out and pats him on the arm, a small, soft smile on his face.] Very well, I accept.
You remember where my house is, yes?
no subject
Logan's going to offer his free arm, bent at the elbow. He's not sure how weak X'rhun feels right now, but he's not about to assume. A gesture like this could easily be misconstrued as "playing the gentlemanly part", even if in truth, Logan's just hoping to support X'rhun's weight if he needs it. ]
Come on, then. [ Pause. ] Uh. Sir.
no subject
He tucks his hand into the crook of Logan's elbow, accepting the offer, and stands. He can handle his own weight at least, but he's grateful for the assistance all the same, when the endless night is still a huge hindrance.]
Lead the way, Ser Knight! [His ears wiggle in sheer amusement over the situation.]
no subject
[ But he leaves the church with X'rhun in tow, one arm bent for him to hold and the other keeping the thurible at their side. The beasts that they come near hiss and recoil, running each time the scent of the incense comes near, and Logan walks at a slower pace so as not to rush X'rhun at his side. ]
You've been busy, huh. [ Not that Logan's one to talk, but he does have a healing factor to make up for any especially awful fatigue. ]
no subject
[Not when he can hear and smell the beasts, his tail slightly stiff as they walk due to wariness.]
And I would indeed like Sodder back.
no subject
Though he supposes he wants her back more because she seems to represent hope around here, and he's well-aware of the power of that.
His answer is simple: ] Me too.
This place was weird enough before she went missing.
no subject
[August could have qualified as something awful... though more mentally taxing than anything. But this is undoubtedly worse, because it challenges the entirety of one's being.]
So far, [he amends. He's sure the Mother Superior will simply find something worse to do should they successfully find Sodder again.
X'rhun sighs. He wants to give in to the urge to lean himself against Logan's shoulder, let him take the Miqo'te's weight... but no. His house is not far from the church, surely he can walk across those streets on his own two feet and only need Logan as a guide.
Wait. Did he just...]
Logan? [Is that the man's name?]
no subject
He does, however, recognise his own name, and turns his head briefly to look down at the top of X'rhun's head. ] What? [ He's not even a little concerned by the fact that he knows his name. ]
no subject
It still seems like a far-off dream for him, more of the puzzle pieces missing than not. A spell-- Flare? too large and uncontrolled to be Verflare-- and a thaumaturge's rod, much ado about soul crystals, and Azeyma roses everywhere...
What a strange journey Logan must have gone through.
Oh right. Logan's expecting him to say something, isn't he?]
... Would you like to stay for a drink or two? You strike me as a beer type of fellow. [Good enough.]
no subject
...yeah, he's definitely not good at holding any drink without the healing factor. ]
Uh... you got juice?
no subject
Though that is a bit of a surprise, Logan asking for juice rather that something stronger, after what they've gone through. X'rhun himself has been hankering to drown himself in alcohol.]
Tea? Or mayhap milk.
no subject
But he tries to play it cool, regardless. ] Milk's fine.
no subject
Excellent! [Even with how tired he is, the heavy shadows underneath his eyes and the strain on his face, X'rhun still manages to be so cheerful. It might as well be one of his superpowers.]
Fortunately for you, there's still a carton I have not yet opened, so it's as fresh as could be.
no subject
It's cow's milk, right?
no subject
[Which is a shame, he thinks. He prefers yak milk.]
Do you prefer it warmed or not?
no subject
It's such a stupid thing to think about in the middle of hell like this, but the mundane feeling of it all is comforting in its own weird way.
X'rhun's place isn't too far now. They're coming up to a turn that'll take them to the street. ]
Besides, think warm milk'd just make me sleepy.
no subject
More than I do, perhaps.
no subject
[ But there're still things to do, and people still need help.
Moving his thurible to the hand that's closer to X'rhun, he brings his free one up to rub lightly at one eye with his fist. ]
I got a long nap on my to-do list, believe me.
no subject
Rest at my house, then. I've more than enough sleeping space for visitors.
no subject
After a glass of warm milk, pretty sure I'd be out for days.
no subject
How stubborn you are.
no subject
Can't afford to sleep too long now, though. Maybe when the world calms back down.
