Doesn't have to be fresh, don't worry. [ His love of fruit extends to all things. It's why Logan likes Trix so much.

He sits as told, arms folding over the table. Watching Bruce work, Logan relaxes a little more than he's used to; the scents in the room are comforting, and seeing someone do something domestic like cook makes it easy to pretend like everything's normal.

But beneath that fruit smell... ] Ah. [ He realises. ] Smells like Blake in here.

Well, that's sweet.

( and whilst river is a little touched by it she sounds slightly sarcastic. she does at least manage to hold back on jokingly commenting that she feels like she'd saved his butt last time )

So, how did it happen?

( she holds up her own hand as a gesture )

[ Logan, of course, keeps the flowers Kurama had gotten him in a vase (or... you know, a jar of mayonnaise that's a vase now). He's not nearly as fancy as Kurama is, but finds one of those unoccupied houses and a bush nearby to cut a single rose from. It's this-- a yellow rose, for friendship-- that he takes with him as he follows the scent on the bouquet's wrapping.

When he finds Kurama, he says nothing, but he does hold a hand up to be sure the kid won't try to run away or leave at the sight of him. Once Logan's standing in front of him, he pulls the yellow rose from behind his back and holds it out. He figures that already says enough. ]

[ He doesn't get it. Logan stares at her hand. ] How did what happen.

[retrorsum]

The claws. Very interesting defence mechanism.

Could being absent at the moment of his betrayal truly be called surviving?

[Sometimes he still thinks he should have been there. Either to fend Lambard, because he really is the only person whom the Hyur could never defeat in a fair duel, or to die with the rest of them.

And X'rhun knocks back more of his scotch with the thought.]

... Could being dead be called surviving? [Because he really does think he is dead.]

I was b-- [ His head turns sharply at the sound of something shifting, and though his ears pick it up as something wheeled moving in a room closed by a door, he still walks the opposite direction of where the noise came from. ]

( river hears it as well, more than happy to avoid the noise. she might like adventures and can't resist a locked door but knowing there was danger here river wanted to avoid it. she had good self-preservation despite her other instincts )

Sounds painful.

( especially given how they looked )

As long as there's shit to go through, you're surviving. [ He's not going to think too hard about what Deerington is and where he is-- it's not something he'll get the answer to any time soon, so it's easier to keep it at the back of his mind. ]

Even if that shit's survivor's guilt.

( she avoids looking at him when she says that. river knows pain -- the first part of her life was spent growing up in pain. physical, emotional. some that could never heal.

her attention focuses on a door, starting to head into that direction )

Mrr. Perhaps. [Suddenly he feels so tired, so old.]

But to die only to arrive here is utter shite, you know. [No, Logan didn't. But now he does.]

[ So Logan follows her dutifully, slipping into comfortable, mission-oriented silence.

There's no time to mourn here. ]

You believe in the afterlife?

[vermillon]

Every Eorzean does. Seven heavens and seven hells, and the god of the underworld decides your ultimate fate.

Mayhap whatever deity the church here worships is a concept... [Because he cant even see any idols.] But like the heavens and the hells, our deities are real.

[retrorsum]

( river pushes the door open, it being one of the few in this hospital that is unlocked. the next room is a mess but for now they are the only ones in that room. she sets to looking around, seeing if there are any supplies that they can take back that haven't already been collected )

[Bruce glances up at that, looking surprised.]

Really? You've got a good nose. He's been kind of... babysitting me. [Grimace grimace.] Apparently last month was too much for him to trust me to look after myself.

[danzan]

Kid must really care about you. [ A harmless observation, really. ]

[therapissed]

Surprisingly. [He smiles to himself as he turns off the stove, portioning out the rice into two bowls for them.]

He's a good guy. Doesn't deserve to be here. Like a lot of you people.

[Trying not to dwell on that thought, he's rummaging through the fridge to get out the milk and coconut milk, pouring a bit of both over the sticky rice before garnishing with the grilled pineapples and melon. Then he's passing a bowl over to Logan with a spoon, the leftover fruit put on a plate to the side in case he wants more.]

Right, tea for you, or something else?

[ While River uses her eyes, Logan uses his sniffer, and what he finds is an opened bottle of sedative-- the sort you required a syringe to use. He cups this in his palm, figuring he might as well. ]

Hey, you see any bandages, could I have 'em?

[ He's preeeeeetty much gone through his supply with how October went. ]

[ Logan's biggest question is how do you know it's real, but he doesn't really have the time to delve into his deep-seated complications with God and the church. ] Does your scripture say the heavens or hells are like Deerington?

[retrorsum]

Getting into trouble is starting to sound like a habit.

( and if river didn't know any better she'd think that he enjoyed it. she knew why she liked him though considering he was good in a pinch and knew what he was doing. and would dive into trouble

What happened after I saw you last time?

There are no scriptures. Our structure of religion is not as stringent as you think.

[Namely because... there are so few official churches and temples. Everyone just knows.]

You said you had apple tea, right? [ Logan's not the "change your mind" type, needless to say.

He waits for Bruce before he starts eating, even if the smell of fruit makes his tummy rumble. He hasn't been eating well, but given how distracting this "Test 137" has been, it probably comes as no surprise that he's forgotten basic things like food and sleep. ]

Eh... [ He makes some brief, waving gesture with his hand, tipping it from left to right. ] Helped more families, mostly.

But there've been more beasts the later into the month it got.
