My parents are human. Typically people that become Time Lords have specific genetics. My exposure was a little different. It shouldn't be possible and yet here I am.

[ He spends a few moments staring at the words on his screen before hitting the CALL button.

When the call's picked up, he cuts right to the chase-- ] How do you feel?

Well, I figure the universe is full of unlimited possibility.

Exactly that. It means that I'm more Time Lord than I am human.

Yeah, they would.

I mean, typically your powers manifest when you go through puberty. And the way people treat you changes in a snap. [ Logan's fingers click together in emphasis. ] Hell, we've had humans experimented on to get powers and they're treated the same way, even if it's other humans who do it to 'em.

[ He sighs. But with all the numbers more or less in his head, Logan walks over to Peter and puts his hand on his shoulder to let him know they're done. ]

...but y'know, I like that you say it doesn't make sense. [ The corner of his mouth pulls into a small smile. ] In my world, it's rare meeting humans who think the same way.

[ All throughout Kurama's happy, serendipitous plant find, Logan's expression is caught between surprise and the simplest, innocent fondness, even if that last bit is more subtle than anything. (Can't have him know.) He shakes his head at the mention of moving on-- the change in subject, and then the change back, is abrupt enough it's almost ridiculous-- but goes on regardless and crouches when it's necessary for them to hide.

It's a shame he's so damn tall.

You know I can carry it for you would've come out of him if he weren't picking up the same sounds Kurama likely was, if he didn't know how important focus was for something like this.

Bird noises come from a distance away, peppered with the sound of padding bird feet and the brief rustle of feathers here and there. Logan would turn his head in that direction if he wasn't trying to get Kurama to find the damn things himself.

The rabbit blood continues to drip on the grass meanwhile, sticky and thick.

He glances up at Kurama. ] You got it?

That would be preferable.

Kid's asleep, so here is no-go. But the library's open 24 hours. [ He's just assuming River won't let him come over... ]

[ Logan could argue forever about how there has to be another way, and Ouse should be able to go home without having to succumb to the Black Water somehow, but it's no dice if he doesn't know what he's talking about. So for now, all he gives is a small smile of acceptance.

And then-- ] Think a few friends you feel close to is better than a lot of friends you don't know very well.

Besides, who wouldn't like you? [ He snorts, head tilting back and to the side slightly. ] You're kind, you got a calming voice, you're cute even when you're lookin' away... hell, I think the "no eye contact" thing might make you sexy-mysterious to some people, too.

[ True to his word, Logan's there in fifteen minutes. His punctuality is impeccable.

He has a six-pack of Sprite with him (one of the first things he restocked their fridge with, honestly), and at the sight of River he gives a lazy, two-fingered salute with his right hand. ] Evenin'. [ The Sprite is lifted in a presenting gesture. ] Pop.

Can I come in?

[retrorsum]

Of course.

( she smiles when she sees him and, if river didn't know any better she'd wonder if he had some sort of time sense like she did )

Though I haven't had a chance to decorate.

( she's kidding. what is making something comfortable when you're trying to escape )

Well, [ he snorted ] you just haven't seen me in winter.

[ Just because it wasn't appropriate to joke around didn't mean Logan wasn't going to be a fucking moron about it anyway. ]

...you good, too? [ When she'd hugged him earlier she'd felt softer, but Logan had to make sure. ] No more of this doll shit?

[ The dog Vira-Lorr had been petting barked in reply. Logan spared it a look, then turned back in Vira-Lorr's direction. ] Least this one says we don't smell like plastic any more.

[ They're gambolling because Logan's not quite in his right mind. Now that X'rhun's head is clearer, it's probable he'll notice it-- how his pupils are thinner than a regular human's, how his scent's gone thicker and more obvious, how his mouth stays open to bare his canines despite no sound coming out.

X'rhun bites into his left hand and Logan hisses because of it. His right one comes up and pushes into X'rhun's cheek-- gentle, but not any less firm. His left leg twitches slightly where his knee's pressed into the grass by X'rhun's hip in restless annoyance.

Then he pulls his hand free and runs... but not quite on two feet. It's more like he lands on his palms and toes and launches himself forward in leaps and bounds instead.

Logan scampers behind a tree trunk.

He peers around it.

He crouches, fingers digging into the dirt, and his shoulders wiggle as he gets ready to pounce again. ]

[danzan]

What, you mean like for Christmas? [ He doesn't mind the emptiness of the place, though, and will find whatever comfortable surface there is to sit his ass on it. Logan pulls two Sprite cans out, then holds one out in River's direction before tossing, fully expecting her to catch it. ]

Shit. [ He cracks his can open, brows furrowing. ] I haven't decorated for that, either. Ain't never had a sense for it, though...

[retrorsum]

( river chuckles, catching the can with ease. #timelordreflexes )

I thought continuing this conversation in person would be better with how-- private it's getting.

( he might have found more comfort in being able to reveal things but she has yet to. even if he's now the third person she's told )

[ The sudden burst of cold against his skin makes Logan flinch up, hands moving quickly towards his back in an attempt to shake the snow off. ] Ah, fuck--! [ So that's how the kid wants to play it? Is that it?

Logan sheds the jacket off entirely, dropping it to the snow with a soft thump, and lets out a low growl. It's not menacing in the least, though, sounding more playful than anything, and with Diarmuid running away, he gives chase right after him. ]

C'mere, you monkey brat!

[ The faeries, appalled at this apparently mutiny, stare at the big man chasing the little flurry of robes for a grand total of two seconds. Then they giggle and give chase, too, their wings fluttering prettily under the sun. ]

Yeah, well. I don't mind.

[ Logan takes the first gulp, his shoulders bouncing up at the fizz tickling his throat. The funny sensation is the reason he loves pop as much as he does in the first place.

Though he does like how citrus-y Sprite is. ]

I'm guessing this Time Lord stuff's supposed to be a secret or something? [ Which isn't something he's opposed to in the least. His tone's more curious than anything, trying to make sure of it. ]

Well, my husband's never that secretive.

( everyone who knew his name knew what he was. and that he was the last one -- gallifrey was gone and he had done it. so everyone believed )

But considering my unique nature I've never particularly publicised it.

( though it wasn't just because of that. it couldn't be written anywhere when she had needed to keep herself hidden to the doctor. if he found out this detail too soon-- everything could change. plus, she didn't need kovarian trying to find her again )
