“Mostly. When I saw you had fallen asleep, I decided to join you.”
Nathan blinked drowsily up at Logan and gave him a warm smile. He had been dozing himself, listening to the rhythmic little heartbeats of their unborn pups. There probably wasn’t a more soothing sound to Nathan in the world. He glanced at the clock to find that two hours had passed, but it felt like no time at all.
With his mate so far along in his pregnancy, Nathan’s protective instincts had gone into overdrive. Though he still went out to hunt (the meat was good for both of them), he spent most of the rest of his time with Logan. While normally he was a stronger fighter than Nathan could ever dream of being, the pregnancy had slowed him down considerably. The thought of not being there when his mate might need him didn’t sit well, so hunting aside, he was always around. Always.
He nuzzled Logan’s hand and kissed his palm as he stretched his legs.
“They were pretty active when I first came in. I don’t know how you slept through it.”
