revised timeline notes

NOTE: Please note that most of this is my own personal headcanon and shouldn't be taken as the Word of God, or anything.

  • The events of X-Men Origins: Wolverine occur (as well as the flashback scenes of Logan in Nagasaki from The Wolverine), but after Logan stops Victor from committing rape in Vietnam, they go their separate ways and Logan goes to America to work as a bodyguard.
  • In 1973, Logan's consciousness becomes swapped with the consciousness of his future self from 2023-DYS[1]. The events of X-Men: Days of Future Past occur until 2023-DYS' consciousness is forced out of Logan's body to go to the "fixed"/newly revised 2023. 1973 Logan regains control of his body.
  • Even as Logan is saved by Mystique from the river, he chooses not to join her. Instead, he retreats into the Canadian Rockies, where he meets and falls in love with Kayla Silverfox.
  • Kayla is killed by Logan's brother, Victor Creed, who has become almost fully feral without Logan there to be his voice of reason. Wanting to become strong enough to defeat him, Logan decides to sign up for the Weapon X program.
  • Unlike the events in Origins, Stryker succeeds in wiping Logan's memories the first time. After that, he is reprogrammed and controlled, becoming Stryker's personal weapon (and fully feral when he isn't being controlled). He forgets about everything before this time.
  • About a decade later, a young Jean Grey frees Logan from his cage in Alkali Lake, following the events of X-Men: Apocalypse. She also returns a memory to him: the name of his first kill (and his birth father), "Logan".
  • Logan spends a few years in the Canadian wilderness, too scared of humanity in the same way an animal would be. Some basic human functions return to him, which then leads him to seek out civilisation in Canada.
  • Logan becomes an underground fighter, earning money for every victory. He then ends up in Laughlin, where he later meets Rogue.
  • The events of X1 and X2 occur.[2] Logan becomes a history professor at Xavier's School for Gifted Children, and also trains the older mutants to become X-Men. He only stays for the first semester of every school year, disappears throughout the second and summer semesters, and returns a week before the next first semester.
  • The events of The Wolverine occur, except Yukio is able to locate Logan at Xavier's to bring him to Japan. He falls in love with Mariko Yashida (as Jean is in a dedicated relationship with Cyclops), but does not pursue a proper relationship with her due to his duties as a member of the X-Men.
  • True to the end of X-Men: Days of Future Past, sometime in 2023 Logan's consciousness is replaced with the mind of 2023-DYS, causing all memories of the "fixed" timeline to be replaced with the ones from 2023-DYS' life. He and Charles "catch up".
  • The events of Logan[3] do not occur. Logan lives his days as a professor and a senior member of the X-Men, intending to continue until his generation (Cyclops, Jean, and Storm) retires.

  1. "DYS" marks the dystopian future where the Sentinels are hunting all those with the mutant gene
  2. It is presumed that the events of the original X-Men trilogy occur, but because Jean was allowed to tap into Dark Phoenix as per the events of X-Men: Apocalypse, she has enough power to survive at the end of X2. Thus, Logan does not have to kill her in X3.
  3. I am following the belief that Logan is set in an alternate universe, especially because "no new mutants were born since 2004".
